GREEN RED GIRL Xiang Yata Solo
[EXHIBITION]
8/25/2017 – 9/10/2017
Bananafish is hornored to present: Green Red Girl, the solo exhibition by Xiang Yata. The first series of 20 green and red color works by Beijing based artist Xiang Yata originally came from her on-going comic story since 2011 called Opthalmic Test, a visionary and powerful world created through the artist’s imaginary eyes. After Xiang Yata accepted Bananafish’s solo exhibition invitation, she created another 9 new works to further explore an inner self relationship roled by a twins-like girl, painted with green and red colors, which is also the theme of this show: Green Red Girl.
The red girl was born in a red world. The green girl was born in a green world. First respectivly living in their own world, then one day, Bang! Two parallelised worlds interacted and overlayed accidentally, unfolding an unbalanced scene of two colours inclining onto each other. The red girl and the green girl both found herself placed in the opposite side. Experiencing an emotional battle weaving with Fight, Strategy, Struggle, Entanglement and leading to a hysteric exhuastedness, the red girl and the green girl gradually reconcile and shake hands with herself under a peaceful circumstance.
The body silhouette fades out till the heel and reflects a dot again. She accepts the existences of the other color more than any time.
