Phoebe Y comes from a legal background but has always harbored a passion for encouraging the breaking of rules rather than merely creating them. She has collaborated with restless spirits in the design field to embark on exciting and fun projects. Phoebe is the curator behind a curated angle, a Shanghai-based design gallery that focuses on furniture, visual arts, photography, and other interdisciplinary design exhibitions and events.
Over the past year, Phoebe has curated ten exhibitions. From early trial and error to now managing commercial output, she has always considered herself a “beginner,” balancing excitement and nervousness. This approach might mean they’re not “professional” in the conventional sense, but it has ensured that curiosity and openness remain at the forefront of her practice.
The gallery functions more like an ongoing curatorial experiment, aiming to provide a platform for design practices that haven’t been sufficiently discussed. Phoebe invites fellow practitioners and audiences alike to join the conversation, explore new ideas, and debate the possibilities of design.
