Art and the City

Freedom and Focus

Wu Kong Kong’s artwork conveys an immediate sense of simplicity and cuteness with a touch of obsession, defining her unique artistic style. After graduating from the New Media Art and Design program at Donghua University in Shanghai, she returned to her hometown of Zhengzhou. She chose to rediscover her understanding of illustration and her city. Using illustrations, she depicted the delicacies of Zhengzhou, old buildings she grew up with, friends and family, and even collaborated with the Zhengzhou Cultural Relics Bureau to represent local ancient artifacts through illustrations. She created the “Wu Kong Kong Museum,” presenting these traditional relics in a lively and approachable manner, bringing them back into the public eye. There are many perspectives to understand a city, and Wu Kong Kong hopes her friends can see her boundless love for this city.

Introduction to Kong Kong’s Illustration Works

“I Have a Little Emotion”

Centered around emotions, this piece utilizes simple black, white, and red colors to outline expressions, conveying emotions, and initiating a small exploration of the inner self. Because it’s when we confront our true emotions that we are truly ourselves. The exploration may not necessarily yield answers, and I’ll probably never be “an emotionally stable” adult.
